What’s Next?

We are currently searching for a full-time Rector to lead and guide our parish.  As of April 11, 2023, we are actively accepting names of those who are seeking to answer God’s call here at Good Samaritan.

Where are we now?

The Parish Profile Committee has successfully completed their research, data collection and compiled a beautiful Parish Profile that captures who Good Samaritan is and who we are looking for in a new rector.  We thank them wholeheartedly for their dedication, effort, work product and discernment. It is their work that will help guide us in the search process.

We have published our Rector call with our Parish Profile through the Episcopal Office for Transition Ministry, the Diocese and the Episcopal News Service.  Our Rector Search committee is meeting regularly and forming rubrics and questions to best select our next rector while we wait in prayerful anticipation for who might answer our call.

How will we conduct the search?

There are specific steps and guidelines, as outlined by the Episcopal Diocese of Olympia, that we must follow to mount a successful search.  The Rector Search Committee will be responsible for organizing and conducting the search including screening, interviewing, and ultimately recommending a rector candidate to the Vestry.

The next phases of the search are: 

• Candidate application submission and review
• Determination of the semi-finalist list and conduct interviews with those candidates
• Selection of the finalist for recommendation to the Vestry
• The Vestry will conduct an in-person interview with the finalist and his/her/their family and will make the final decision on our new Rector before the end of 2023 (hopefully sooner)

How can I participate in the search?

First, we ask for your prayers for the committee and for our new Rector.  Secondly, if you have any questions you would like us to ask our new Rector in the interview process, please submit your written questions before May 1st in the box in the Narthex or by email Carol at [email protected].
