Where children grow in knowledge and love.

Everyone is welcome! Good Samaritan Preschool is a fun, hands-on, academic learning environment for children ages 30 months to five years of age. We offer multiple opportunities of rich academics and hands-on “intentional” play activities working with verbal, kinesthetic and visual learning cues to reach every child throughout the day. We are a developmentally appropriate, child-centered school run by a caring and highly experienced team of teachers. We specialize in small class sizes (ratios 1:6) providing children with both individual and group learning exploration and curriculum. We’re part of the outreach and ministry of Good Samaritan Episcopal Church. The school is a member of the National Associate of Episcopal Schools and licensed by the State of Washington, Department of Children, Youth and Families. Good Samaritan Preschool is also a proud participant in the Washington State Early Achievers Program.  We accept subsidies for childcare if the family is approved through DCYF’s Working Connections Child Care program.  To apply, click here.

Children have opportunities to explore, experiment, discover and create in an environment that is conducive to learning. We’ve developed a curriculum that enhances a child’s cognitive, social, emotional and physical growth in a fun and nurturing environment. Each unit is based on themes that are meaningful to preschool children. Each day, the children experience stories, art, science, math, music, and various activities relating to these themes. In addition to planned activities, the environment allows the children to interact with a variety of learning centers.

At Good Samaritan Preschool, we pride ourselves on our:

  • Highly qualified staff.
  • Developmentally appropriate curriculum that focuses on the whole child. We are a play-based preschool that uses emergent curriculum practices to build on each child’s unique strengths and abilities.
  • Flexible schedule options.
  • Small class sizes. (Two teachers for every 13 students.)
  • Respect for all faiths and cultures.
  • Warm, caring, family style environment and our secure facility.
  • Family activities: Trunk-or-Treat, holiday program, Fall Farm Field Trip, Mother and Father’s Day celebrations.

What Parents Say
What Parents Say
“All the teachers genuinely care for the children and lead them with love and kindness. My child absolutely loves being here and adores the teachers.

The teachers are incredibly understanding and patient with my child, who is very active and sometimes struggles to follow directions. But I’ve never heard any complaints from the teachers. They consistently guide the children with love and positivity.

The school’s director, Ms. Susan, is also very responsible and communicative. She always messages parents promptly with updates and maintains great communication.

This school feels like one big family, and I’ve seen my child grow more confident and happy while learning so much here.” – Wanchen

The National Association of Episcopal Schools (NAES) is an independent, voluntary membership organization that supports, serves, and advocates for the vital work and ministry of 1,200 Episcopal schools, early childhood education programs, and school establishment efforts throughout the Episcopal Church. Chartered in 1965, with historic roots dating to the 1930s, NAES is the only pre-collegiate educational association that is both national in scope and Episcopal in character. NAES advances Episcopal education and strengthens Episcopal schools through essential services, resources, conferences, and networking opportunities on Episcopal school identity, leadership, and governance, and on the spiritual and professional development of school leaders. By serving those who serve Episcopal schools, we seek to foster excellence through association.

OUR CURRICULUM

Our highly trained staff offers a developmentally appropriate curriculum that is engaging and fun while promoting growth in all areas of development; social, emotional, physical, cognitive and spiritual. Daily activities are designed to invoke curiosity, encourage participation, challenge critical thinking, and instill a joy of learning.

Curriculums included during the day are:

Literacy & Language Arts:
Zoo-phonics® is a Multisensory Language Arts Program that is a kinesthetic, multi-modal approach to learning all aspects of language arts, including vocabulary development and articulation. It teaches the alphabet, phonemic awareness, rhyming, and pre-sound blending in a playful and concrete manner.

Get Set For School® -Handwriting Without Tears is a handwriting program that uses music, movement and multisensory manipulatives to teach all the core readiness skills including crayon grip, letter and number recognition, number and capital letter formation and body awareness. (PreK only)

Math:
Our math curriculum helps children acquire critical early math skills by using developmentally appropriate activities, manipulatives, and rhymes to teach counting, comparisons, spatial awareness, patterning, sequencing, matching, sorting, problem solving and Pre-K geometry skills. Children also develop oral language skills that help them learn about and express math concepts.

Science:
Science and discovery is integrated into the daily curriculum with age appropriate materials that promote exploration and experimentation through visual, verbal and kinesthetic modes.

Outdoor Education is designed as a continuation of the classroom. Studies have shown that “green space” helps to stimulate the brain in a positive manner, preparing children to learn in ways academics and indoor learning do not.

Spiritual Formation:
Good Samaritan Preschool is an outreach of Good Samaritan Episcopal Church. The Episcopal Church is one of the most open churches of the Christian Faith. We respect the dignity of every person modeling high standards of behavior and mutual respect for one another. We hope to instill values such as love, kindness, honesty and responsibility in your child as part of their learning experiences.

  • The curriculum units are based on monthly themes that are meaningful to preschool children. TESTIMONIALS

“We brought our middle child to Good Samaritan Preschool when he was 4 years old after attending another preschool on the plateau. It was a very positive move for our child and we wish we would have made the switch sooner! He never wanted to go to his former preschool, perhaps the class size was too large or the attention wasn’t there. He would cry and fight every morning. In January of that school year we made the switch to Good Samaritan and he LOVED it!! Not once did he ever complain about going in the year and a half he spent there. We were thrilled!! The warmth and quality of this school far outweighs that of any other preschool my children have attended or those that I have toured on the plateau. It is a perfect fit for our family and I would recommend them without any hesitation. Our youngest started in the 3’s classroom this fall and he LOVES it too! I could not ask for a more loving, nurturing and overall perfect environment for our children’s early learning education. Best preschool on the plateau!!!”

Juleigh

“This school is truly a hidden gem. Our experience with the staff and teachers has been wonderful. My daughter has been attending for a year, and we love everything about it!”

Manjari Vadlapatla

“Our children love Good Samaritan Preschool! The staff provide a very fun, loving, and safe environment where each child is made to feel special. We have seen our sons develop into two bright, confident, and social little boys who love going to school every morning and seeing their teachers and friends. Thank you for making their first school experience so wonderful!”

Ashley B

“This school is a hidden gem! We moved our preschooler to Good Sam last fall and couldn’t be happier. With four kids, I’ve experienced a lot of different high quality preschool settings and Good Sam ranks up there as one of the best! It’s play-based, which was a much better fit for my spirited preschooler than montessorri. There is daily outdoor and imaginative play and art. They also do some age appropriate academic instruction for kinder readiness (letter of the week, writing names, etc.). Probably the most convincing evidence of its quality is its teachers, who are extraordinary. Unlike other schools, with a rotating cast of characters, we know every teacher by name and many have long tenures (the current director is a former educator at the school). There is no religious programming, outside a sweet Christmas pageant every winter, and it’s insanely affordable compared to other schools!”

Ashley Jochim

“My daughter and I love Good Samaritan school so much because everyone is so nice here. The head teacher, assistant teacher, and administrative staff love my kid so much just like how much I do. My daughter brings home projects almost every day. The head teacher sends her creative lesson plans to parents every week. I feel so thankful for finding such a great school for my little one. Well, it is hard to mention all of the great things about this school. I recommend this wonderful school to everyone who wants to find a warm learning place for his or her precious little ones. Thank you so much for everything!”

Kelly

“This school has the most loving teachers I’ve ever encountered. I have three children, and my oldest two attended different preschools in the Issaquah/Sammamish area. It wasn’t until my youngest came here that we found this amazing place—my child started in the youngest class and is now in the middle class. All the teachers genuinely care for the children and lead them with love and kindness.

This school feels like one big family, and I’ve seen my child grow more confident and happy while learning so much here.”

Wanchen J.

“I’m very lucky to find this school they are so great!

We were a new movers to USA, and we were looking for a private school for our toddler (2.5y non-English speaker)
We found here all we needed, they were very supportive in the beginning for my son’s introduction, and they partnership with us to build a cozy environment were he felt well-received. I definitely recommend this school.”
